George Alvin Gainey was born on August 14, 1941 to the union of James Hubert Gainey, Sr. and Viola Hardison Gainey in Morven, NC.
George was affectionately known as “Alvin.” He received his formal education at Anson County Training School in Wadesboro, NC. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age at Galilee AME Zion Church in Morven, NC.
In 1986, Alvin was united in holy matrimony to Willie Esther Lindsey in Chesterfield, SC. He was employed at Cuddy Foods Industry as a truck driver until retirement.
In his leisure, he enjoyed watching Nascar, Football and listening to music.
George Alvin Gainey departed this life on February 14, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents: James H. Gainey and Viola H. Gainey; brothers: Leo W. Gainey, James Gainey Jr., Paul Gainey and Charles Gainey; sisters: Cleartis Harris, Edith Gainey and Annie G. Burns; and grandson: Kendrick Demarcus Chisholm.
He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Wille Esther Gainey; children: Michael Anthony Gainey, Michael Edward Lindsey (Margaret), Sonya O. Chisholm, Marcus Chisholm and Rosalyn Denise Wade (Aubrey); sisters and brothers: Peggy Gainey Simon (Haywood) and Rufus B. Gainey; seven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; one special nephew who was raised as a brother, Ronalt Gainey (Teresa); one aunt, Nora Lee McCall; several nieces and nephews; other family and friends.
