Rev. Jessie Haywood Wall, Sr. was born on September 18, 1951 to the union of James and Bernice Wall in Anson County, NC.
Rev. Wall attended West Deep Creek Elementary School, J.R. Faison School and a 1970 graduate of Bowman Senior High in Wadesboro, NC. He furthered his education at Shaw University in Raleigh, NC.
Rev. Wall accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age at Pleasant Hill African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Wadesboro, NC where he was a member of the Male Chorus.
Rev. Wall was united in holy matrimony with Betty Wall and to their union was blessed with three children. Later in life, he joined in marriage with the former Lillian Stafford and they enjoyed the ministry for 26 years until his passing.
He served 53 years in pastoral ministry and throughout the AME Zion Church. His close friend, Rev. Joseph Shaw was instrumental in his ministerial accomplishments. Wherever his ministerial journey took him, rest assured his riding partner, Demarques (Boot) Wall was with him.
In his leisure, he enjoyed reading, fishing, loved watching the tv sitcom “Sanford & Son" and was a lover of all sports.
Rev. Jessie Haywood Wall, Sr. departed this life on November 13, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Bernice Wall; daughter, Monica Wall; two sisters: Ann McCormick and Emma Moore; two brothers: Edward Wall and Robert Lee Wall.
He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Lillian S. Wall; five children: Pastor Jessie Wall II (Melissa) of Monroe, NC, Katrina Wall of Burlington, NC, Dawn Coleman (Mike) of San Tan Valley, AZ, Donnell Stafford (Joy) of Powder Springs, GA and Genatus Cooper (Min. Tamika); 15 grandchildren; 18 great grands; one brother, Donnie Wall of Wadesboro, NC; several Godsons and Goddaughters; and a host of other relatives and friends.
